

Established in 1837
Incorporated as a village in 1837, White Pigeon is the oldest incorporated village in the state and was an outpost of civilization when much of the rest of the area was undeveloped wilderness. In 1828 the county’s first hotel opened its doors in White Pigeon and, in another county first, a stagecoach operated on Chicago Road in 1831 and 1832 traveling between Tecumseh, White Pigeon and Niles.
9/17/24 - Water main break on E. Hotchin at S. Laird. If you see brown water, run you outside spigot a few minutes to clear it. Also, E. Hotchin is closed on the east end of the school so avoid that end if possible. Thanks. (Trying to have the repair done today)

Village residents, please be advised that the WP Ordinance regarding grass height (no greater than 6") is now in effect. This ordinance holds the property owner responsible if the property is found to be in violation. If you, the property owner, are found to be in violation of this ordinance, WP DPW will mow/clean up at a fixed hourly rate and the property taxes assessed for the amount. The utility flags being placed in yards are to guide Surf Internet so they miss placed utilities while boring for fiber lines underground throughout the village by quadrant. They are starting in the North East quadrant. Please mow around until their work is done.
Scheduled hydrant flushing will begin Monday April 15 through Friday April 19, 2024.Anytime brown water occurs, we recommend opening your outside spigots to clear the color. If you don't have an outside spigot, we recommend running a non aerated (usually bathtub) faucet (COLD WATER ONLY) to clear the color.

During this meeting we will hold a public hearing for the fiscal year 24/25 budget approval.
